Mrs. Gilbert has been teaching 8th grade English at Paul R. Baird Middle School since 1995. She is a 1992 Westfield State College graduate with a B.A. in English, an M.Ed. in Secondary Education, and two Massachusetts ELA teaching licenses (middle school grades 5-8 and high school grades 9-12). Some of Mrs. Gilbert's recent professional development includes graduate courses in the areas of education, technology, language arts, and curriculum planning through Endicott College, Framingham State University, Westfield State University, and the University of Massachusetts WMASS Writing Project.
Since employed with the Ludlow Public Schools, Mrs. Gilbert has served on many committees and as a past advisor for both the Journalism and National Jr. Honors Society clubs at Baird Middle School. A recipient of the Grinspoon Foundation’s Pioneer Valley “Excellence in Teaching” award, she is currently an active member of the Baird Middle School Instructional Leadership team.
Mrs. Gilbert and her husband reside in Belchertown and have two children, a daughter in college and a son in high school. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, photography, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Gilbert's professional goal this school year is to incorporate more technology and collaborative learning into her class lessons and projects.
